Sustainable feeds

The livestock industry is under increasing pressure to reduce emissions (including NH₃ and CH₄) and use resources more efficiently. Within the Feed Pilot, we translate these societal goals into specific feed interventions and process optimizations. Specifically, we use conditioning, expansion, and compression to control pellet quality and energy efficiency, and we link these process parameters to sensor data (temperature, energy consumption) for real-time process monitoring and subsequent LCA input. This approach allows us to achieve emission reductions not only at the formulation level (additives, feed ingredient mix) but also at the process level. Furthermore, we validate the results through feed analyses (nutrition, physicochemical properties, quality/shelf life), enabling companies to make decisions based on the principle that “to measure is to know.”
